Mountains of Parnonas

Parnonas, is a mountain ridge on the east of the Laconian plain and the Evrotas valley. Its height is 1940m. The western part is in the Laconia territory and the eastern part is in the Arcadia territory. Parnonas region is approximately 50 km from north to south and about 25 km wide from east to west. The highest mountain is Megali Tourla (1940 m). The Parnonas range separates Laconia from Arcadia, and is mainly limestone. Parnonas is very rich in flora. Exception of the high peaks of the mountains is abundant with vegetation complex and rare aromatic and medicinal herbs. Parnonas is covered by many forests which consist of black-Pine, milko-Kedron, Fir-trees, Oak-trees, Chestnut-trees and Carob-trees. Parnonas also consists of beautiful plateaus, multiple peaks, canyons and supreme beauty of wild and deep valleys, waterfalls, caves, springs and running water.
